The end of another summer holiday from teaching and it was time for the annual gettogether. BBQ in our garden.
It took a while to get ready. New turf as the old grass was ruined. Take down old shed and build new one. Repairs to decking etc etc, clean pond and count fish (60).
We don’t have a huge garden so it was a bit of a squeeze at times. It was great to spend some time with family, friends and work colleagues. Two of them are the leaving the country shortly and so it will be a while before I see them again.

George and Ruth with their Pavlova. Yummy!
Anita showing her manners -wonder if her parents see these pictures?
Sunday was football BBQ in the garden.
Started the day with an early morning car boot at Taplow, followed by some last minute food/beer shopping.
13.00 was time for the World Cup. We set up the projector in the garden and watched the football over burgers, sausages, chicken, Pimm’s and Beer. What better way to spend a hot Sunday afternoon during the World Cup? And a win!!
My brother unfortunately fell asleep after too much Pimm’s and fell foul of some fun on our part.
Last night was the Lets Rock Christmas show at the Wembley SSE Arena in London. Great night. Got there around 6.30pm for doors opening. The show started at around 7.00pm with Pat Sharp doing his DJ thing. Live acts started at 7.30pm until about 11.00pm
Fantastic 80’s night with a Christmas theme. All the acts were great but my favourites were Go West, Tiny Hadley and Kim Wilde.
Had a bit of a nightmare getting home. All the tubes were busy and when we got to Paddington, the train was cancelled and so everyone tried to get on the next one. This meant the train was packed. every space in the aisles and by the doors was jam packed with people complaining and more people trying to squeeze on. After 20 minutes the driver announced that he was refusing to drive the train due to overcrowding and then after another few minutes announced we should all board the longer train opposite prompting a stampede.
We found seats and looked forward to getting home. About 20 minutes into the journey a group of people who had been to London for their office party got a little excited when one of them (the boss as it turned out) decided to be sick into his present bag. A couple of minutes later this then spilled out onto the floor as the bag was made of paper. The sick also spilled onto his friend sat next to him, his shoes etc. This started a chain reaction of people feeling ill!
Thankfully a short while later we managed to leave the train and take the car home.
We went to Cineworld today in Bracknell to see the new Justice League film. The new Bracknell shopping centre is certainly much better than the old one. Cineworld was clean and well equipped compared to the empire cinema in Slough. There is no comparison really except for price. The 4d tickets cost £18.10 including the online booking fee.
You get to sit in a row of four seats which move around in sync with the action on screen, there are fans to blow air in your face, small air jest in the seat that blow on your head and feet, smells and finally jets and sprays of water.
We were quite surprised at how strong the motion was on the chairs. In the action scenes you really get shaken around and there are thump pads in the back of seats that punch you in the back.
Really enjoyed the film and the added 4D although expensive was well worth the money.
Cant wait until the next film.
