Still a vegetarian. Managed to resist a chicken kebab after my first Drinking session of the New Year with friends.
Total steps this week = 82418. Still managing at least 10K per day and still doing my 10K run training.
And finally, still got my new job. It’s all looking good.
Day 7 and despite everyone around me eating meat including my favourites such as Pepperoni Pizza, I am still a vegetarian.
Started day 2 of my 10K run training today.
Total weekly steps has increased from around 40K if I don’t do any exercise and in my old job role, to78064 in the past week and I expect this to be higher this week.
December the 31st 2018 was my last day employed as an IT Lecturer after 19 years. As of the 2nd January 2019, I started my new role as a Senior IT Engineer at the College, looking after the systems, hardware and software over three sites at Windsor, Langley and Strodes.
Just to make things more interesting, I have also decided to go vegetarian. Not sure how I’m going to do with this one. I have strong reasons for wanting to go vegetarian but I’m already a fussy eater, so choosing meals without any meat is going to be a challenge.
I’ve set myself some reasonable resolutions around health & fitness. My daily minimum steps is 10,000. I calculated that on most work days I’m lucky if I clock up 5000 steps, so since the New year I have been taking steps (pun intended) to increase this:
Taking stairs rather than lifts.
Taking the long way to get anywhere at work.
Walks at lunchtime
Walks after work.
Usually I would look to walk to work which generated 12,000 steps each way but I’m not sure if the nature of my new job role will allow that as I need the flexibility to drive between sites when needed.
Time to review this at the end of the month. Currently at 3 days with no meat eaten and around 45,000 steps in 4 days since the 31st December. 3 days in new job – still got job so far.
