Build Your Own R2-D2 by Deagostini Issue 62

Time to fit some more dome panels. Note that two of the dome panels to fit were supplied in previous issues. Build time 10 minutes as these can be a little fiddly sometimes. Use the sticky strips supplied and press the dome panels into place.

Then three dome panels at the top of the dome. Again, fit the sticky strips and then press the panels into place.

I’ve tried to include a few images to show the fitting for the mounts:

Build Your Own R2-D2 by Deagostini Issue 61

Build time took just 3-4 minutes. I cant believe how find behind I am with this. Look at how many issues are waiting to be built. Still, they don’t take long.

People’s Choice Car Insurance

My car insurance renewal letter arrived a couple of days ago. I spent 15 minutes on hold trying to speak with their customer service department this evening as the premium had jumped by 25% for no reason.

Finally spoke to a gentleman and I told him I wanted to cancel because of the huge increase in the premium. He asked if they could check the price again and asked how much I had been quoted elsewhere. Within a few seconds he came back with a 30% cheaper quote for the same policy. Happy days and worth waiting a few minutes on the phone!

England – 6 Panama – 1

Sunday was football BBQ in the garden.

Started the day with an early morning car boot at Taplow, followed by some last minute food/beer shopping.

13.00 was time for the World Cup. We set up the projector in the garden and watched the football over burgers, sausages, chicken, Pimm’s and Beer. What better way to spend a hot Sunday afternoon during the World Cup? And a win!!

My brother unfortunately fell asleep after too much Pimm’s and fell foul of some fun on our part.

Solo a Star Wars Story

Tuesday evening we went to the Empire Cinema in Slough gif their two got one offer on tickets and caught the early evening showing of Solo.

When the film started we were the only two people in the screening although another 8 arrived shortly afterwards. Still only 10 in a cinema screen with room for 20+. We got to sit in the posh seats and huge film was good despite some of the negative reviews.

Man V Man V Food

George and I had a few games of pool and beers after a difficult day at work. Unfortunately he won 5-4.

We followed this with a visit to the Hungry Horse at Middle Green.

We both had a large main followed by the Ultimate Candymania pudding. This is usually a desert to be shared but we had one each in a man vs food challenge and we both finished

Labrador woes

Our Labrador is now 14 which is quite a good age for a Lab. She has developed some recent health problems and we took her to our local vet’s to see what was causing the problem. She has had some obvious trouble with her back legs/hips related to her age and has recently lost bladder control and when left at home overnight would often have an accident delaying the laying of our new floor.

The vets charges us a few hundred pounds to do some tests which were inconclusive and we got to the point where we felt we were spending money needlessly.

Working on the idea that both problems occurred at the same time, I suspected that the bladder problem was related to her pain/discomfort in her rear hindquarters and decided to try some tablets you can simply buy from Amazon similar to what people might buy if they had joint problems. The tablets cost £20 for about a months worth and since she has been taking them we have not had a problem. The dog clearly has some stiffness still when she lies down for long periods but the bladder problem is gone at the moment. Hopefully the beneficial effects will continue and there will be no negative side effects?
